Falls from heights remain one of the leading causes of workplace injuries and fatalities in Australia. Implementing effective fall protection measures not only saves lives but also prevents injuries that can result in significant financial and emotional costs for both workers and employers.
These fall protection measures are indispensable across a wide range of industries, including construction, manufacturing, maintenance, and utilities.
Beaver Brands have been designing and manufacturing the B-Safe range of fall protection equipment since 1985 and our success is built on delivering world class products along with cost saving solutions that don’t compromise safety. Our mission is to provide a complete range of fall protection, fall arrest and fall restraint equipment and systems that are easy and comfortable to deploy, exceed safety standards, and above all, provide the user with confidence.
Beaver Brands and the B-Safe fall protection range has built a strong reputation and forged a leading position in the market through a combination of technical expertise, quality products and a strict testing regime.
Since inception we have heavily in maintaining AS/NZS ISO 9001 Quality Assurance accreditation, NATA ISO/IEC 17025 registration and ISO 14001 environmental management accreditation.
All B-Safe products are tested and labelled according to Australian Standards and are supplied with the necessary instructions for their correct use. Furthermore, all our body harnesses are inspected and individually proof loaded to 7.5kN (750Kg) to verify the integrity of the construction and configuration.
All metal hardware used on B-Safe products is batch numbered, tested and fully traceable. It is this attention to detail that allows B-Safe to provide peace of mind to our valued clients. It is important that users of height safety equipment are competent when working at height and have appropriate training in the products used.
Our B-Safe range includes everything from body harnesses, harness kits and shock absorbing lanyards, to pole straps and retractable lanyards, inertia reels, anchor points, safety lines, fall rescue equipment and emergency fall rescue kits, as well as confined space kits and fall protection / prevention hardware such as karabiners and safety hooks.
Body Harnesses
We have a broad range of B-Safe general purpose and specialised fall protection harnesses designed with the requirements of an end user in mind, allowing for maximum comfort and safety, and to ensure an even distribution of fall arrest forces.
All body harnesses are designed for ease of use and include comfort padding, heavy duty aluminium hardware and adjustable straps. The range includes confined space, pole workers and utilities harnesses with or without 9kV dielectric resistant hardware, Swift QB Quick Release Buckle harnesses for faster donning, fire resistant hot works harnesses and Roofers Harness Kits complete with a fall arrest harness, rope safety line, lanyard, attachment strap, suspension trauma strap and hardware.
Shock Absorbing Lanyards
Shock absorbing lanyards dissipate and absorb the kinetic energy of a fall, to limit the fall arrest forces and minimise the free fall distances of a falling user.
At Beaver Brands we have a broad selection of B-Safe single and twin tail shock absorbing web lanyards, rope lanyards and PVC coated lanyards available in various lengths and configurations to suit all applications. These lanyards are long enough for practical usability, while being as short as possible to minimise free fall distance.
Our B-Safe shock-absorbing lanyards offer top-tier compliance without breaking the bank, earning the trust of workers. Built with robust webbing or rope, and steel hardware, they ensure strength and resist corrosion. The shock-absorbing packs are designed to tear in a controlled manner upon a fall, mitigating forces on the user to ensure safety and preventing falls. With a range of styles, lengths, and hook options, it’s easy to find the perfect fit for any job site requirements.
Pole Straps & Retractable Lanyards
B-Safe Pole Straps are traditionally used by power workers when locating themselves on a telephone pole or tower so they can work hands free. The pole strap is designed to fully restrain the user so that any fall is a limited free fall.
Self-retracting lifelines on the other hand, are designed using webbing, wire rope, or a cable that automatically retracts into a housing unit, never allowing for any slack in the line. SRLs are longer than lanyards and permit a larger working radius, even when using a fixed anchor point—which is typically overhead.
B-Safe self-retracting lanyards allow mobility up to 2.5 meters. The lanyards feature a webbing guide to prevent twisting, an integral shock absorber and a tough, impact resistant plastic case.
Fall Prevention Anchors
Our complete range of B-Safe Anchor Points, Inertia Reels, Karabiners and Hardware have been rigorously tested to comply with AS/NZS 1891.4 and AS/NZS 1891.1 - connection hardware. Our anchor devices include both temporary and permanent systems which all meet the 15kN minimum requirement for a single person (with many being capable of supporting two persons - 21kN).
At Beaver Brands we can supply high quality approved fixed fall prevention anchors including weld-on anchors, purlin mounted anchors, stainless steel anchor points / bolts as well as temporary anchor points, beam trolleys, temporary horizontal web safety lines and vertical safety lines.
B-Safe vertical safety lines are set up as a temporary safety line. The purpose of these lines is for climbing structures and being attached whilst moving up the structure. It is important that the top attachment point is suitable for the application and rated accordingly. When taking the line off the direct vertical position, users should be aware of the possible pendulum effect should a slip or a fall occur. The safety line should be used under tension between the anchor and the rope grab device so that the fall distance is limited to the operational speed of the rope grab.
B-Safe Arresto inertia reels, sometimes referred to as self-retracting lifelines (SRL’s), are fast acting, heavy duty fall arrestors that limit the free fall distance, deceleration distance and fall arrest forces while enabling freedom of movement for the user.
The lightweight units are durable with high strength galvanised cabling or webbing and robust thermoplastic casing with reliable fall indicators and swivel connectors to prevent the lifeline from twisting.
Fall Rescue Equipment
The ability to rescue a fallen person is required on any site where persons are working at heights. It is often forgotten that the reason people wear harnesses is to prevent them from falling however sometimes a fall can occur and require fall rescue equipment.
It is every employer’s responsibility to ensure that if a person does suffer a fall and is suspended in a harness that they must be able to recover them as quickly as possible. In this event it is also important that the rescuers are not put in further danger to carry out the rescue.
The B-Safe auto descender and pole system provide for emergency evacuation or escape from heights, by not adding to the hazardous situation putting the rescuer in any danger. The fall rescue device is designed to reach the suspended person with an open double action snap hook which attaches to the suspended person through the rear D ring of the harness. The system is designed so that if the suspended person is unconscious no further help is required as the attachment can be made without the assistance of the suspended person. Once the hook is in place the suspended person can be raised to allow for the loaded equipment to be removed. Once this is done the person can be automatically descended to the ground with the device.
Beaver Brands also manufacture and supply B-Safe reop recovery systems, ropes, and tripods and tripod kits, as well as emergency rescue kits.
Fall Prevention and Fall Protection Education
Beyond regulatory compliance, investing in comprehensive fall protection measures demonstrates a commitment to the well-being of workers and fosters a culture of safety within organisations. Proper training in the use of fall protection equipment is essential to ensure workers understand how to effectively utilize these tools and minimize risks while working at heights.
In recent times, the height safety industry has shifted focus by increasing requirements on manufacturers to provide meaningful advice as well as compliant, comfortable, and easy to use products. End users are also required to maintain a sufficient level of knowledge and competence in the use of height safety products. To help, B-Safe has focused on 5 key elements in height safety as outlined below and which happen to be integral in the B-Safe name:
Body Harnesses
Shock Absorbing Lanyards
