Choosing the right work boots for the New Year

With the advent of the new year, now is the time to be thinking about the right work boots for you or your staff.

Unfortunately, the process of selecting safety footwear for the workplace is often heavily driven by cost.  However, the real costs of footwear related issues are often hidden and captured in the workplace health and safety division.

In a study of 321 workers in a variety of industries that were required to wear safety footwear, a staggering 91% of the workers were assessed to have a foot issue; of which 72% were attributed to the safety footwear they wore (1). Although this study was undertaken in the 1990's and there have been some positive developments since then, unfortunately most footwear designs still do not address key foot issues.

At Mack Boots however, the performance of the foot and ankle are the foundations of our design process. In fact. our research team head by Dr Caleb Wegener (Phd,Biomechanics, B App Sc, Podiatry, Hons) ensures that workplace requirements coupled with features to minimise pain and injuries is at the core of our footwear designs.

One such safety boot is the Mack Bulldog II which has been engineered to provide targeted medial support on the inside of the foot. naturally shaped heel support, a breathable memory foam insole and outer sole technology to improve traction and flexibility with movemen
